چکیده

A new dinuclear complex, [Ni(2)(H(2)O)L(4)].5H(2)O, consisting of chelating bidentate and bridging tridentate coordinated 2-[(4-methylphenylimino)methyl]-6-methoxyphenol (HL) Schiff base ligands and water molecules has been synthesized using a traditional method. The structure of this complex was characterized by FTIR and UV/Vis spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analyses (TG-DTG) and further confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Its crystal structure is of monoclinic system, space group P21/c with a = 13.2837(5) A, b = 27.3886(10) A, c = 17.5415(6) A, alpha = 90 degrees, beta = 108.429(2) degrees, gamma = 90 degrees, V = 6054.7(4) A(3), Z = 4. The crystal structure reveals that there is a Ni.Ni core, with a separation of 3.183 A. Its thermal decomposition kinetics were also studied.
